About ElderPride

ElderPride is an intergenerational social program for 2SLGBTQ+ older adults that was launched in 2021. ElderPride was developed to create space for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals to connect across generations and build community. We hold free, accessible in-person events in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and run a penpal program for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals across Atlantic Canada. We are grateful to hold our events on the traditional unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik peoples.

ElderPride seeks to create space for community building, socializing, solidarity building, and skill development. We have run a variety of social programs over the years. Between 2021 and 2023, we ran a series of socials, dinners, and craft events, including candle making, bookbinding, and leather working. We also engaged in activities like mini golf, swimming, a wagon ride, and a sugar shack tour.  In 2024, we will be running a series of workshops and learning sessions, in addition to our socials. We generally hold one event with a full meal every month, plus a social afternoon with games and snacks. ElderPride events are participant-directed; our event ideas and meal ideas come from attendee suggestions and requests!

ElderPride events are for 2SLGBTQ folks age 18+ who wish to connect across generations, with a focus on 2SLGBTQ+ adults over 50! 2SLGBTQ+ attendees over 50 will be prioritized if we have limited space for a specific event. We ask that prospective attendees RSVP for our events so that we may prepare accordingly. All ElderPride dinners and socials have ASL interpretation and take place at physically accessible venues with gender-neutral washrooms. The majority of our outings are physically accessible. We run medical-grade HEPA air filters at our indoor events and provide KN-95 masks for attendees. ElderPride is volunteer-run, has no staff, and does not have a physical space at this time. All photos on our site are taken by our coordinators, Amelia and Linsay, or our unofficial ElderPride photographer, Antoinette. The only individuals shown on this site are coordinators and volunteers.
